This is the least helpful, biggest con EVER. Total waste of money. There is nothing helpful in here that you don't get from the cambridge guidelines. In addition there is barely anything to it! So aside from the trauma of actually having to do the DELTA I felt completely cheated by this grinning TEFL teacher. You'd get more help by running fast into a brick wall.
I wish Damian Williams had written this book before I did my module 1 exam. My life would have been much easier!
The book offers useful and straight-to-the-point advice for candidates. What I liked most were the practice tasks. They guide you in the process of prioritizing what Cambridge wants.
I'm sure this book will help me a lot in the pursuit of the other modules.
Useful hints and tips.
A very helpful book with great advice and tips. I've only used it for module 1 but will keep it at hand for the remainder of my DELTA. It's not a book to be used in isolation but works well with the guideline answers from the examiner reports of past papers and supplements any DELTA course.
I bought the version for tablet which has links to the appendix that you can jump to and from but sometimes the 'book' won't jump back to the page you were reading. I used the scroll bar at the bottom of the page, and the handy bookmarked page to get around this. It's a minor hindrance but can be a little off-putting.
A friend used an old reader without a touchscreen so the jump feature was absent and this made the book a burden to use, so keep this in mind when deciding to purchase this.
I'm finishing up Delta Module 2 and looking to do Module 1 in a month, with intentions to submit Module 3 in December. This book has greatly helped me. It is an easy to read, stripped down version of the Delta Guideline published by Cambridge. The Delta Guideline IS your Bible if you want to pass, but it's very dense and uses a lot of words to not say much.
Damian has broken down the main ideas, given actionable points, practical tips, and relevant exercises (If you're an EFL teacher, you will know the format). It's a simple concept, but it's a great help.
I didn't give it a full five stars because the linking is sometimes wonky.
If you're taking the Delta, I would highly recommend this book, especially considering how affordable the book is the actual course.
Excellent guide to what the different modules entail and how best to approach them.
